Due  to published statistics, from the total 47,559,000 tons of steel production , 41.5 million tons equivalent to 87 percent of the country’s total steel production is being used on domestic consumption.
From the beginning of this year to the end of August, more than 47 million tons (47 million and 559 thousand tons) of steel items have been produced in the country,  six million tons of it have been exported and the remaining (more than 41.5 million tons) have been used in the country.
According to the statistics provided by the Association of Iranian Steel Producers, the steel consumption for all items except steel ingots (middle steel) during this period has grown 2.2 to 7.6 percent compared to the five months of 1401( iranian calender ), but the consumption of steel ingots has decreased by 2.4 percent compared to the same period last year.
Also four million and 149 thousand tons of long steel sections have been consumed in the country during the five months of this year and 7.6% growth is seen  compared to their consumption in the five months of 1401 ( Iranian calender )
Consumption of sponge iron increased by 3.78 percent in the first five months of this year, from 14,440,000 tons to 14,986,000 tons. In the first  five months of 1402 about 15.7 million tons of sponge iron were produced in the country, of which only 708,000 tons were exported.
Finally, of the 13 million and 25 thousand tons of steel ingots produced in the country with a drop of 2.4%, nine million and 933 thousand tons were allocated to domestic consumption and about three million tons of it were exported.
In the five months of the year 1401, the consumption record of steel ingots of the country was 10 million and 174,000 tons.
