1.1% in eight months / Iran,s steel output up

The World Steel Association (worldsteel) in its latest report has announced that Iran’s steel output hiked by 1.1 percent in the first eight months of 2023 as compared to the same period in the previous year.
The worldsteel figures covered in a Friday report by the IRNA showed that Iran produced 19.7 million tons of crude steel in the eight months.
Iran was ranked 10th among the world’s top steel producers during the said period.
Iran’s monthly crude steel output stood at 1.6 million tons in August, indicating a decrease of 24.1 percent compared to the figure for August 2022.
According to the IRNA, the country is expected to climb to seventh place among the world’s top steel producers by the Iranian calendar year 1404 (March 2025).
The World Steel Association (worldsteel) is one of the largest and most dynamic industry associations in the world, with members in every major steel-producing country.
Worldsteel represents steel producers, national and regional steel industry associations, and steel research institutes. Members represent around 85% of global steel production.
