In April to September 2023, India’s iron ore production increased by more than 15 percent year-on-year to approximately 129 million tonnes, compared with 111.5 million tonnes in the same period last fiscal year. The country’s iron ore production reached 23 million tonnes.
This is due to an increase in India’s crude steel production by 14 per cent year-on-year to nearly 70 million tonnes from 61 million tonnes in the same period last year.
India’s iron ore and pellet exports nearly tripled to 6.9 million tonnes in April to September from 18.6 million tonnes in the same period last financial year.
