According to data from China’s National Bureau of Statistics, the country’s crude steel production reached 77.92 million tons in August 2024, representing a 10.4% decrease from 86.41 million tons in the same period in 2023.
In the January-August 2024 period, China’s crude steel production decreased by 3.3% compared to the same period last year to 691.41 million tons. China’s domestic steel demand remained weak last month, mainly due to an ongoing downturn in the real estate sector, a major steel consumer.
