In line with detecting and implementing effective solutions to promote production capacity, Sefiddasht Steel Company has utilized an innovative approach to implement a new technical solution in its direct reduction unit. It is the result of precise studies and the effort of the company’s technical team led to an increase in the average production rate to 125 tons per hour.
According to the public relations of the National Iranian Steel Company (NISCO), the fundamental principle of this plan is based on reducing the temperature of the process gas exiting from the top gas scrubber of the reduction furnace, eliminating moisture from the gas, and adding this moisture in the compressors or after the compressors. This solution is designed and implemented considering and regarding all the limitations and process conditions of this unit.
Accordingly, a meeting was held with representatives of seven provincial steel projects at National Iranian Steel Company, during which, Sefiddasht Steel Company presented a report on the implementation process and explained its achievements.
Regarding and based on the performance of the last two months, Sefiddasht Steel Company achieved a monthly production of around 92 thousand tons of sponge iron, setting a monthly production record among steel projects in the country and also the highest efficiency.
Considering the structure of MIDREX, the above-mentioned solution, can also be implemented in other direct reduction units in the country and can play an effective role in steel industry. It is predicted that under the worst and best scenario, the capacity increase would be between 5 to 15 percent with the implementation of this project. This valuable achievement is an example of Sefiddasht commitment to innovation, productivity, and performance improvement in the country’s steel industry.
