Water and energy consumption in Iran’s steel industry/ Four facts

. ‎ ‎‎1. The total amount of water consumption in the country’s steel industry is only 154 million cubic meters per year, which accounts less than 0.15 percent of the country’s total water consumption.‎

‎ ‎‎2. Amid the peak period of electricity consumption, while the grid load reaches about 80,000 megawatts, the consumption of the steel industry is only 5,500 megawatts, which is less than 7% of the country’s total consumption. However, the first industry to face outages and restrictions is steel.‎

‎ ‎‎3. Of the 5,500 MW, about 4,000 MW (73 percent) is supplied through the self-supplied power plants of the steel industry. However, not only is there no support from the government, but the remaining amount is also under the pressure of restrictions.‎

‎ ‎‎4. The share of gas consumed by this industry in the country’s total gas is only 40 million cubic meters per day. While the country’s daily consumption is 848 million cubic meters,means less than five percent.‎
