Japan’s Scrap Market in Silence

The value of  yen drop in camparison to the dollar and a decline in export offers increased Japan’s latest heavy class 2 export scrap price. Japan’s scrap traders were more active in the domestic market, and export supplies fell. The last price traded was at $348, up $3 daily. In Vietnam, Japan’s scrap was $385 to $390 a tonne of CFR, while requests were no higher than $380. In Taiwan, demand for heavy scrap class 1 or 2 (50-50) was $375 to $380 per tonne of CFR, with offers up to $390. Overall, Japan’s scrap market is in recession and there are no  buyer as in consumer markets including South Korea, steel demand is weak, especially in the construction sector.
