Managing director of National Iranian Steel Company at the 10th Steel Price Conference which was held at the Olympic Hotel in Tehran, emphasized the need for the synergy of steel producers to progress & development of this industry.
According to Public Relations of National Iranian Steel Company, Aghajanloo while expressing a statistical status of steel production in the world in his speech, declared: In 2022, global steel production has decreased by 1885 million tons (3.9%) compared to 2021.
He noted that global steel production has doubled in the past two decades, 85% of the growth is related to developing countries, China’s share in this regard was 75%.
IT is expected that more than 30% to be added to steel production by 2050.
Aghajanloo Stated that the main producing steel countries are in Asia, added: China 53%, India 6%, Japan 5%, USA 4.5%, Russia 4%, and … And Iran is the world’s 10th largest producer with 1.5 percent. According to the forecasts in 2050 China’s share will be 35% and India 17%.
Referring to the production of special steels, Managing director of National Iranian Steel Company stated: 3% of the world’s crude steel production is devoted to stainless steels, while in the European Union this number reaches about 4.5% and the production of alloy steels in this union is about 18%.
Pointing out the production of this type of steel in Asia and the Pacific, Aghajanloo added: Mostly between 3 and 4 percent of production is located in stainless group Considering alloy and low alloy production, the average quality production in the world is 10% of construction production, and in our country this number is less than 5%.
Aghajanloo announced the most important challenges facing the steel industry as follows:
domestic surplus capacity, foreign consumption market, carbon challenge and infrastructure constraints, all of which lead to an increase in production costs, and therefore, along with the construction production, in order to protect raw materials and domestic energy, the values of quality production should also be considered, targeting of converting 10 to 20 percent of the country’s output to quality products in new country programs is recommended.
