Seven months of Iran’s steel production at the level of previous year

The Iranian Steel Producers Association published the statistic of apparent steel consumption in the first 7 months of the current year. The apparent consumption of middle steel in the first 7 months of this year compared to the same period last year increased by 0.7%, the apparent consumption of all steel products increased by 2% and the apparent consumption of sponge iron increased by 5.4%.

According to the steel association’s statistical report in the first seven months of this year, the apparent consumption of middle steel (billet, bloom and slab) reached 18,497,000 tons.

In the middle steel sector, 11 million and 693 thousand tons of billet and bloom apparent consumption and 6 million and 804 thousand tons of apparent consumption of slabs have been registered. Billet and Bloom’s apparent consumption increased by 4.5 percent and the apparent consumption of slabs decreased by 5.2 percent.

In the statistical report of the steel association, the growth in the apparent consumption of flat steel sections is + 3.7% and the growth in apparent consumption of long steel sections is + 0.5%.

The apparent consumption of flat sections was 5 million and 511 thousand tons of which 5 million and 275 thousand tons belonged to hot sheets, 1 million 411 thousand tons of cold sheet and 1 million 4 tons of covered sheets. The apparent consumption of hot sheets increased by 3.1 percent, the apparent consumption of cold sheets decreased by 2.1 percent and the apparent consumption of coated sheet increased by 10.9 percent.

In the 7 months of this year, the apparent consumption of beams increased by 21.1 percent compared to the same period last year to 851 thousand tons, and the apparent consumption of rebar has decreased by 2.2 percent to 6 million and 103 thousand tons. The apparent consumption of slops, studs and other long steel sections increased by 4.9 percent.

The apparent consumption of sponge iron according to the steel association has increased by 5.4 percent to 22 million and 112 thousand tons.
