Deputy Director General of the Office of Processing and Geological Survey and Mineral Exploration of Iran stated: Production of 55 million tons of steel targeted in the Vision Document 1404 depends on the annual extraction of 160 million tons of iron ore.

Gholamhossein Ghorban Karimi added:  in order to achieve this amount of production, it requires increasing production in mines, exploiting new mines as well as new discoveries to provide sustainable iron ore consumed in steel industry.
