Iran and World Steel Production Growth in 11 Months 2023

The World Steel Association has published global steel production figures for 11 months 2023 (January to October). According to this report, 1.715 billion and 100,000 tons of steel were produced in the world during this period. This volume of production was up 0.5 percent from the same period last year.

According to the World Steel Association, global steel production in the eleventh month of 2023 was 145.5 million tonnes, up 3.3 percent from November 2022.

The world’s top steel producers in 11 months 2023

Among the world’s top 10 steel producers, five countries China, India, Russia, South Korea and Iran spent 11 months of 2023 with production growth compared to the same period last year. The highest growth in production occurred in India and the lowest in Iran.

Iran’s production was 3 million tons in November 2023 and 28.1 million tons between January and November.

Japan, the US, Germany, Turkey and Brazil also produced less in 11 months of 2023 compared to the same period in 2022. The highest negative production growth during this period occurred in Brazil, where Brazil produced more than 7% less steel in 11 months 2023 compared to 11 months of 2022.
