Japan’s scrap export market is stable due to demand stagnation in importing countries and the boom in the domestic market. The average price of Japan’s Class 2 heavy scrap is $347 per tonne of FOB , which is up very slightly. In Taiwan, Japan’s scrap is $380 to $385 per ton of CFR, while the U.S. 20-80 scrap is $365 to $375. In Vietnam, Japan’s Class 2 heavy scrap is $388 to $395 per ton CFR, while buyers ask for $385 per ton CFR.
Japan’s scrap market is expected to remain in relative stability for some time, driven by a slowdown in demand from importing countries.
