Iran exported about 27 million tons of steel products worth $7.0 billion in the first 11 months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21, 2023-February 19, 2024), according to the Iranian Steel Producers Association (ISPA).
As reported, the exports of the mentioned products increased by 20 percent in terms of value and 68 percent in terms of weight compared to last year’s corresponding period.
Iran’s export of steel chain topped $6.2 billion in the first 10 months of the current Iranian calendar year, the association announced in its previous report.
As per ISPA, 153,000 tons of iron beam, valued at $82 million, were exported from the country from March 21, 2023, to January 21, 2024, showing a 31 percent hike in volume compared to the same period last year.
Last month, the World Steel Association (WSA) said in a report that Iran improved its global standing in steel production, becoming the ninth-largest producer in January 2024.
In the first month of 2024, Iranian steel mills produced a total of 2.6 million tons of steel, registering a 39.3 percent increase compared to the same month of 2023, as reported by the WSA.
The world’s 71 steel-producing countries produced 148.1 million tons of steel in January 2024, indicating a 1.6 percent yearly decline.
Iran was ranked first in terms of production growth among the world’s top steel producers in the mentioned period.
