Iran Becomes the Ninth-Largest Steel Producer in the World

According to the latest statistics of the World Steel Association, in the first five months of 2024, the rank of Iran’s middle steel production in the world increased from 10 to 9, and Iran replaced Brazil in the field of production.‎

‎ The World Steel Association published the latest statistics on global steel production. According to these statistics, in the first five months of 2024 (January to May), 793 million and 200 thousand tons of middle steel products were produced in the world and

 Compared to the same period in 2023, a 0.1% decrease was seen.

World crude steel production for the 71 countries reporting to the World Steel Association  was 165.1 million tonnes (Mt) in May 2024, a 1.5% increase compared to May 2023.

‎ Iran has always been the world’s tenth-largest producer of middle steel, however, this rank was upgraded to ninth in the five months of 2024, and Iran replaced Brazil. Previously, Brazil was ranked ninth in the world’s largest producers, and this position was downgraded to 10th in May. Brazil’s steel production fell 7.4 percent in May this year compared to May last year.‎
