Iran plans to triple value of e-commerce exchanges in 5 years

Head of Iran Center for e-Commerce Development has said the entity is targeting to triple the value of e-commerce exchanges in the country in the next five years, IRNA reported.

“It is planned to triple the value of e-commerce transactions at the end of the center’s five-year plan, and we hope that the set goal of 90 trillion rials (about $180 million) will be achieved,” Amin Kolahdouzan said.

Back in October 2023, Kolahdouzan said the volume of e-commerce transactions in the country increased by 75 percent in the first six months of the previous Iranian calendar year (March 21-September 22, 2023) as compared to the previous year’s same period.

Speaking at a ceremony held on the occasion of National E-commerce Day in Tehran, the official said: “In the first six months of this year, we had a very significant growth in the field of e-commerce compared to the same period last year.”
