In the 14th Government, the revival of the Steel Headquarters is one of the key programs of Ministry of Industry, Mine & Trade.
This action became operational by attracting the effective participation of trade associations in the iron and steel chain of the country, and the presence of the Minister himself in the first meeting of this headquarter expresses the importance of this sector for the government.
This approach is evaluated in line with achieving 8% growth in the country’s iron and steel chain.
Studies show that the steel industry is one of the main elements of development in industrialized and under- developing countries, and Iran, while maintaining its position as the tenth largest steel producer in the world, has a significant growth in capacity building, production, and non-oil exports.
Due to playing a key role as a strategic commodity in many industries, economic growth and industrial development have a direct relationship with steel production and consumption no doubt that to sustain the growth of this industry, the challenges must be identified and appropriate planning must be done to solve them. In this context, the development of energy and transportation infrastructure, ensuring a stable supply of raw materials, and improving trade policies are among the factors that can strengthen the competitive position of Iranian steel at the international level.
