The Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade in a meeting with the board of directors of the Steel Association ,stated:

According to public Relations of NISCO quoting ISNA, in a meeting attended by Seyed Mohammad Atabak the Minister of Industry, Mine, and Trade, the board members of the Iranian Steel Producers Association criticized the failure to implement the joint memorandum between the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade and the Ministry of Energy regarding the electricity supply for industries, and requested the issue to be pursued at the presidential level.

The meeting, held to review the status of electricity restrictions imposed on steel chain, was attended by Mohammad Aghajanlou (Chairman of the Executive Board of Directors of IMIDRO) and Seyed Abbas Hosseini (Advisor to the Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade).

Consumption restrictions up to 10% of demand means the complete shutdown of steel factories. They requested the Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade to distribute electricity restrictions in a specialized manner and with the participation of trade associations.

They asked for the full implementation of the memorandum of understanding signed in Ordibehesht of this year (second Iranian month) between the Ministries of Industry, Mine and Trade and Energy regarding the governance of industrial power supply, agreed that the electricity supply limit for industries should be capped at 2,500 megawatts.

Seyed Mohammad Atabak – Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade stated:

we emphasize the need for precise implementation of this memorandum of understanding and added: “The President and First Vice President have emphasized the observance of industry rights in energy supply, and we did not expect that a memorandum of understanding approved by the two ministers would not be implemented. This Minister of Energy is aware of this issue and is also being pursued in the Cabinet.”

At the end of this meeting, it was decided that the Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade continue to follow up on the implementation of the memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Ministry of Energy.
