Yaser Hajiheydari, care taker of Quality Control and Sustainability at Mobarakeh Steel Group, during the panel on “Energy Constraints in the Steel Industry” stated:
slab production at Mobarakeh Steel has increased by 2.2% in the first half of the current year.
According to Chilan, Haji-heydari noted: in months without energy restrictions, Mobarakeh Steel’s output exceeds 800,000 tons, whereas during periods of energy limitation, production drops to around 400,000 tons.
According to Haji Heydari, Iran is the tenth steel producer in the world, and Mobarakeh Steel Company, with a 33% share of the country’s production, in the first eight months of 2025 increased its share to 34%.
He added that about 1.4 million tons of slab production capacity is lost annually due to energy challenges. At the same time, with the launch of Sepiddasht Steel, 800,000 tons have been added to the production capacity of Mobarakeh Steel Group, although this year the production of this unit will not exceed 150,000 tons.
The caretaker of Quality Control and Sustainability of Mobarakeh Steel Group also emphasized that energy prices in the Iranian steel industry should not be determined by the standards of energy-importing countries, because these countries lack a competitive advantage in steel production.
